Yan enjoys a distinction as a certified Master Chef, a highly respected food consultant, a cooking instructor and a prolific author. His recipes can be found in more than 26 cookbooks. Born in Guangzhou, China, to a restauranteur father and a a mother who operated a grocery store, Chef Yan possessed a passion for cooking at an early age. He refined his natural talent at the Overseas Institute of Cookery in Hong Kong, before completing an MS in Food Science at the University of California/Davis in the US. In 1978, he pioneered a daily Chinese cooking show, the now legendary 'Yan Can Cook'. The recipient of numerous awards and honours, Chef Yan is internationally recognised as an accomplished chef among his peers, and captured the hearts of millions of fans worldwide by mixing cooking artistry with wit and humour. |
